Artist Statement
“This painting is based on three Meissen porcelain figures that represent the continent of Asia. The central figurine is actually entitled Asia Seated on a Camel and was originally designed by the Meissen factory’s top sculptor, Johann Friedrich Eberlein, in the mid-18th century. Behind the figures, the view outside the window indicates a stormy rainy day—just the type of weather that inspires daydreaming about faraway exotic lands.”
