Eric Merrell

Thrive

  • 24" x 18", artwork
  • Contemporary

Description
At first glance, this scene may appear to be nothing more than a simple cactus, resting on the ground against the backdrop of the old style chain link fence. However, as is usual with Merrell, he has applied great personal meaning to the content and the title of the piece. The cactus is a testament to perseverance, to doing our best within the confines and limitations that life may give. Painted while the artist was living in a small apartment, the cactus may represent the artist himself – symbolizing resilience and a thriving hope for tomorrow.

Provenance
Acquired by American Legacy Fine Arts directly from the artist
