Recollections of Rural California

Scott W. Prior pays homage to the small farms, ranches, and orchards that were far more prevalent in California not too long ago, as well as those that remain today, in his latest series titled Recollections of Rural California. On show now at American Legacy Fine Arts, this grouping reflects the rural areas most familiar to Prior as a boy growing up in Southern California.

“I grew up in Orange County and watched it turn from farmland into an urban center with more than 3 million people,” says 42-year-old Prior. “As a kid, I used to go with my family to small farms and dairies to buy produce and other food items. Today, in place of those farms is now strip mills and housing communities.”
