"The location is in a small town within the province of Yunnan in South West China. The market is a place of gathering, held every five days, this is where the rural Chinese people have the opportunity to trade their goods, they can barter for anything from farm animals, to produce, clothing, and all types of handmade items. There is something for everyone. And best of all is that this is a great place to people watch. The marketplace is an important social event, an opportunity to spend time with friends and relatives. Many of the people walk for several miles to attend the festival of the market; each dressed in their specific village attire."

Robinson, I had to get up very early—and then, paint very fast! From my initial small plein air study, I developed this piece.”

“This painting was inspired by my overwhelming desire to escape Seattle and return home to Southern California. I have driven the Coast Highway a few times en route between the Pacific Northwest and San Diego, always in search of potential subjects for my art, while at the same time avoiding the seeming Zombie Apocalypse to be found along the 5 Freeway. For me, the classic red Mustang is a kind of symbol of simple freedom on the open road. In a way, the setting could be seen as rather timeless, taking place anytime since the mid-1960s. While I am on a long driving trip, I like to imagine myself in this timeless state, unplugged from distractions like my phone, submerged instead in a meditative silence.”

It has been a favorite painting location for me for many years. This was once the path of the Los Angeles River. Now, it is a park, where you can feel like you’re deep in the wilderness.”

Founded two decades ago by Elaine Adams, American Legacy Fine Arts (ALFA) was started to support the work of renowned artist Peter Adams. Over the years, the gallery has become a haven for artists and art enthusiasts who share a profound appreciation for exceptional art.

"The Pink Moment on the Topa Topa Bluffs overlooking an Apricot Orchard; Ojai Valley", oil on panel, 24" x 30"
“In an 1878 Los Angeles Times article describing the magic of Ojai Valley, the writer declared ‘The magnetic center of the earth is here.’ Indeed, many visitors express experiencing a spiritual connection to the area. Certainly, I felt a sense of inner peace with this scene as well as an appreciation for living in Southern California. The fact that the Topatopas span an east-west direction makes it one of the few locations in the world to experience the ‘pink moment’ phenomenon during sunset. At this occurrence, the picturesque apricot orchard in the foreground falls under the shadow of the nearby mountains and the entire scene takes on a contemplative mood. Evenings in the Ojai Valley are renowned for their exceptional serenity and beauty. The name 'Ojai' finds its roots in the Chumash language, specifically the word 'Awahi,' which translates to 'moon.' The Chumash People have a rich history dating back thousands of years in the region, and historical records indicate their profound interest in the study of the cosmos. It is interesting to think that this same pink moment has been gazed upon for millennia."

Peters describes his connection: "The location is a Carl's Jr in downtown Los Angeles on Broadway looking toward the corner of 7th street. For over 20 years I've been working on an ongoing series of LA eateries and the urban landscape on Broadway, they have long been a source of inspiration to me."
