Description
Barney's Beanery was founded by John "Barney" Anthony in 1920 in Berkeley, California. In 1927 he moved his gastropub to West Hollywood on U.S. Route 66, now Santa Monica Boulevard (State Route 2). Hollywood's Golden Era was well represented at Barney's Beanery by the leading stars of the day, including Clara Bow, Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, Judy Garland, and Rita Hayworth -- all who were regulars.
