"Low Ceiling was originally painted en plein air on a trip to San Francisco last year. The size and majesty of the Golden Gate Bridge up close, with the fog and traffic, was something that I really wanted to capture. I hiked around the north end of the bridge, looking for the best views and just loved this scene of the cars coming directly toward me. It was cold, damp, and breezy—a challenge for any plein air painter. I knew, however, that when I was finished I could settle into a warm restaurant with a good glass of wine and melt the chill away! As with my painting, South on Hill, I was looking for something different, something viewers could enjoy as much as I enjoyed painting it."
