Artist Statement
"This is a movie ranch where Paramount Studios has made many memorable films for decades. I have taken my art student classes here for years, and always find something that I love to paint, or feel would make a good painting. The local caretaker is generous in sharing the parks' colorful past with me. In the 1950's, a race track was built here, designed by Ken Miles, for the film Ford vs. Ferrari. The television series MASH was filmed here, leaving the rusting hulls of military vehicles for us to use as props. Part of this ranch was acquired by the National Parks in the 1980's and a country church has been added. In this view, with the old building in the background, the chickens running around and the old oaks starting to turn, I made a sketch to paint later in the studio."
