Description
The Byzantine Greek Orthodox Monastery of the Cross is located outside and to the west of the Old City in the Valley of the Cross, near Nayot. Its name is based on the tradition that it stands on the site of the tree that gave its wood to make Christ’s cross. The present monastery was built in the 11th century.
