Artist Statement
"At 3600 feet above sea level this Unincorporated area is home for only 700 permanent residents. It can be found on HWY 38 just a few miles form the 10 Freeway in Riverside County. Since my parents had a home in Big Bear for many years, using HWY 38 was one of my 3 ways to get up to their cabin. Often one of the other roads would have a slide or crews were working on Hwy 330 or Hwy 18 to get ready for the winter months. When going up or coming down, it's easy for people too miss this little gem, no flashing lights, no big signs announcing you are entering or now leaving Mountain Home Village. If you decide to cruise and drive it's narrow streets, it will feel like you have moved back in time, there are small stone houses built using the stone and boulders found in Mill Creek, or homes built of wood a half-century .All of the homes have large trees and during fall when the leaves turn color, it's a drive I highly recommend."
