Artist Statement
“The three elements featured in this work, rhododendron, sunlight and shadow, were painted under the skylight in my studio. The rhododendron painting was started on an overcast day, but while working on it during a second session, the sun came out and illuminated the set up. I was so struck by the change in light and expression that I quickly painted the effect. It really brought some warmth to what otherwise would have been a cooler subject.”
