Artist Statement
"When heading north on Hwy 395, more that 3 hours drive from Los Angeles, the Owens Valley and the eastern slopes of the High Sierras dominate the landscape. At the foot of the Sierras are rocky brown hills that are geographically separate from the Sierra Nevada, but part of the the same geographical foundation. That is the technical explanation, the artistic one revolves around emotion. Observing the contrast between the cools of the Sierra Nevada, the warmth of the Alabama Hills and some early fall colors, it needs to be painted."
