Artist Statement "This painting was inspired by an early summer ascent along the Strawberry Peak Trail, where shifting afternoon light transformed the landscape into a quiet, atmospheric reverie. Passing through dense forest and glimpses of distant peaks, what remained most compelling was the veil of haze that softened forms and unified the scene.
Rather than describing the varied flora along the trail, I was drawn to the interplay of light and mood—the way sunlight filtered through foliage, dissolving edges and enveloping the landscape in a luminous stillness. In translating this experience, I focused on capturing the sensation of atmosphere over detail, allowing light itself to become the subject.
The image, first realized in a field sketch, has lingered vividly in memory—an impression that continues to resonate long after the journey."
