Artist Statement
“I find it is and extreme challenge to paint waves breaking en plein air. The waves break so quickly, it is hard to see and remember what you are witnessing in front of you. However, I have noticed when I am swimming at sunset time and I dive through a wave, I close my eyes, and my mind remembers the last vision I just saw - the wave breaking right in front of me. That vision is etched in my memory and I recall that and am excited to use that memory to model the wave in my painting.”
