Artist Statement
"Most paintings get a comment on the reverse side that tells something about the work, the location, why I painted it, what struggles I encountered, or the satisfaction of finally having the work please me enough to sign it and send it on the to the gallery. This work is very normal because of the simple reason that I decided to rework my painting until I'm finally satisfied, and I can say it is done for now. I liked my initial efforts well enough, hung the painting in the rafters of my small studio and decided to leave it alone for a while. When finally deciding to take it to the gallery, I did not have the urge to rework parts or all of the painting and I am pleased I followed my instincts, I had worked on it until I was finally satisfied, which is the hardest thing for me to do. I wonder if any other painters suffer from this urge to be satisfied. I would guess that someone who made an exact copy of a vista would find a similar need. The frame was handcrafted by Antonia and I, the artist, finished it."
