Artist Statement
"There are several subspecies of Buntings, each one a colorful and delicate songbird. These Varied Buntings, found mostly in Mexico are a new discovery to me, an I was excited to showcase the showy plumage! The darkness of empty space in the niche provides a contrast to the bright blue face, crimson eyering and hindcrown. The vase with branches and pears are there only to set the stage for these beauties and balance the composition with analogous colors."
