Artist Statement
“For this large painting I did a number of preparatory sketches showing these seasonal spreading ponds that are situated along the Arroyo Seco River at the Hahamongna Wash, just below the famed Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. This is a favorite spot for me to go swimming and playing with my dogs and is only about one and a half miles from our house. I’ve tried to capture the sense of open space and freedom that I feel in this pristine area and also show the abundance sycamores and flora that are native to the area.”
