Biography

Jove Wang was born in Jilin China in 1962. At the young age of seven he began an apprenticeship with the master painter Gang Gu, subsequently studying at Jilin School of Art for three years and graduating in 1982. Wang was accepted into China’s prestigious art institute, Zhejiang Academy of Fine Arts (now known as the China Academy of Art), where from 1986 to 1988 he served as Chairman of the Student Body. He graduated from the Academy as an honor student in 1988. Additionally, Wang received professional training from the Tokyo Academy of Fine Arts.

In 1989 Jove Wang worked at the International Art Exposition in Beijing, China where he designed the Spanish Expo Building in time for the 1992 opening. In 1990 Wang immigrated to the United States where he continued his art career, quickly gaining national recognition.

Artist Statement
“I have made it my goal that each work I paint has to be endowed with its own life and soul from within; whether it is a drama, an opera, a poem, or even a fantasy. I consider my style as realism combined with modern expressionism.” — Jove Wang
